The purchase price for the home was $400,277, which was the market price that a person unaffiliated with the Company would pay for the home, less discounts that are available to all Company employees.

Nicole and Dan Davis, daughter and son-in-law of the President of our Southern California Region, Scott Stowell, purchased a new home from the Company. The purchase price for the home was $546,000, which was the market price that a person unaffiliated with the Company would pay for the home. In connection with the financing of the purchase of this home, the CompanyŐs mortgage subsidiary, Family Lending Services, Inc., originated Mr. & Mrs. DavisŐ mortgage.

Arthur E. Svendsen is presently Chairman Emeritus of Standard Pacific Corporation, serving as Chairman from 1961 to 2001 and Chief Executive Officer from 1961 until December 1999.

Mr. Koeller, a director of the Company, is a partner with the law firm of Koeller, Nebeker, Carlson & Haluck LLP. The Company retained the law firm of Koeller, Nebeker, Carlson & Haluck LLP to provide legal services to the Company during 2002, and anticipates that it will continue to retain the law firm to provide legal services in 2003 as well.

Mr. Arthur E. Svendsen retired as Chairman of the Board on May 16, 2001, at which time he was appointed Chairman Emeritus of the Company. Mr. Svendsen does not receive a salary for his services as Chairman Emeritus, however, as compensation for such services the Company has continued Mr. SvendsenŐs health benefits and leased a vehicle for his use.
