Paul David Miller served as the Chief Executive Officer of Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ÒATKÓ) until October 2003. Admiral Miller serves as a member of the CompanyÕs Board of Directors. William G. Van Dyke, the CompanyÕs Chairman, serves on ATKÕs Board of Directors and after Admiral MillerÕs retirement became Chair of ATKÕs Compensation Committee. Admiral Miller is not a member of the CompanyÕs Human Resources Committee and has had no involvement in actions pertaining to the compensation for the Chairman or Chief Executive Officer. The actions of the Personnel and Compensation Committee of ATK relating to its Chief Executive OfficerÕs compensation are subject to the approval of the ATK Board of Directors, but Mr. Van Dyke recused himself from those deliberations and decisions during the period in which Admiral Miller served as Chief Executive Officer.

The actions of the Personnel and Compensation Committee of Alliant Techsystems relating to its Chief Executive Officer's compensation are subject to the approval of the Alliant Techsystems Board of Directors, but Mr. Van Dyke recuses himself from those deliberations and decisions.
